Juneteenth Celebration The
oldest known event in celebration of the end of slavery, Juneteenth,
evolved from June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston,
Texas delivering the news that slaves were free.
Over the years cities across America have celebrated
this African American tradition. In 2006, For The Good, Inc. hosted a
Juneteenth fund raising celebration with plans to engage all local
Black community organizations in future years. For The Good, Inc.
continually leads the way in the exploration and celebration of
diversity and African American history.
