Utica Phoenix
In the great American tradition of grassroots
publications, the Utica Phoenix takes its place among those
independent newspapers speaking the voice and view of the
often unheard. The phoenix is the area’s multi-cultural print
media including Muslim, Buddhist, as well as Christian
viewpoints. The Utica Phoenix publishes selected articles in
Spanish and several well-known African American writers are
regular contributors.
The
Phoenix regularly takes on issues and subjects mainstream
media ignore or shy from. While other weeklies and dailies
provide cursory coverage, the Phoenix delivers in depth
stories, true to its independent and monthly magazine format.
Rather than sensationalize events of the inner city, the
Phoenix reports passionately with an emphasis on the innate
dignity of the individual.
